BIP at UKW: An Inspiring International Educational Journey

From May 19 to 23, 2025, Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz hosted students and faculty members from five European universities as part of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP). This year’s edition focused on Digital Transformation, Sustainable Development, and Social Entrepreneurship, bringing together young people motivated to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.

The programme combined online learning with an intensive week of in-person activities in Bydgoszcz, creating a dynamic and multidimensional educational experience. Participants represented the following institutions:

  • University of Western Macedonia (Greece)
  • “1 Decembrie 1918” University of Alba Iulia (Romania)
  • Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek (Croatia)
  • University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt (Austria)
  • Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz (Poland)–the host university

During the in-person component, students:

  • explored how digital technologies influence the economy and society,
  • deepened their understanding of cybersecurity and data protection,
  • looked for practical solutions to global sustainability challenges,
  • examined social entrepreneurship as a tool for positive social change.

The programme featured three core workshops:

  • Understanding the Digital Landscape
  • Harnessing Big Data for Business Growth and Education
  • Identifying Community Problems and Solutions

In addition to classroom activities, students had the chance to discover the cultural and natural diversity of Poland, with study visits reaching from the historical town of Toruń to the Baltic coastline in Gdańsk.

Mgr Aleksandra Koperska-Kowalczyk, Head of the International Relations Office at UKW, contributed to the on-site part of the programme by welcoming participants, leading an ice-breaking session, and delivering a short introduction to Polish culture, history, and everyday life.

The programme concluded with a video project created by the students themselves — a vibrant reflection of their knowledge, creativity, and intercultural teamwork.

We would like to thank all the students, academic staff, and partner institutions for their participation. Special thanks go to Dr Karolina Kluth from the Faculty of Law and Economics, who coordinated the project with great professionalism, energy, and care, helping to make the entire experience truly memorable.

Once again, this BIP proved that international education is not just about learning — it’s about collaboration, curiosity, and the shared ambition to shape a better future.
